Camping Air Beds

Camping air beds are a great accessory to bring along on your next camping trip and to even just have around the house in case a few extra guests happen to come by and stay with you.  They can provide you with a comfortable spot to sleep on while you are away from the comforts of your own home.

There are many different types and styles of camping air beds that you can choose from.  Because of this, it is a good idea to know what you will be using the air mattress for and where exactly you will be using it.  There are different mattresses for indoor use and outdoor use, as well as mattresses that are suited for both.  The standard nine inch inflatable mattresses can work very well for both indoors and outdoors.  These mattresses are more affordable than the raised mattress types, but the raised mattresses do offer more comfort.  Raised mattresses are not ideal for outdoor use, however, because they are harder to travel with and more difficult to fit into a tent.  You want to find a mattress that takes up as little space as possible when deflated.  This will make traveling with the mattress a lot easier.  It is also important to factor in what the mattress is made out of.  When looking for an air bed, you want to look for a mattress that is made out of thicker material.  Having your mattress in the outdoors, even if it is in a tent, will make it much more prone to getting punctured than it would if it were just to be used in your home.   Also, inflation methods are important to keep in mind.  For an outdoor mattress, you will want to find a mattress that can be easily inflated using either batteries or with a compressor with a car adapter.  This will make filling the mattress with the right amount of air easy while you are out at your camping location.

There are many different styles of air mattresses that work well for camping.  Coil style air mattresses are great for camping.  These air mattresses are made up of individual coils of air when inflated.  This style of air bed will offer you great flexibility and stability when it is properly filled with air and minimizes air displacement, which makes them quite comfortable to lay on.  The coil style construction of the mattress gives you a lot of control over the firmness of the bed.    Tube style air mattresses also work well on camping trips.  These mattresses are made up of tubes the run along the entire length of the mattress.  These beds are thinner than coil style mattress and, therefore, easier to travel with.  They do not, however, offer as much flexibility over firmness as coil style mattresses do.

The style of camping air bed that you choose will depend on what your needs and wants are.  There are enough different styles and types of air mattresses available that you are sure to find just what you are looking for.
